A working meeting between the Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin with the Minister for Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Dr., Professor Mehmet Germezom took place.

The meeting was devoted to discussion of issues in the framework of the signed Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry headed by Dr. Gyurmes and the Russian Muftis Council.

The parties gave a positive assessment of the existing cooperation and expressed the intention to increase the activity of all stated in the Agreement directions.

In the near future the pace of preparations for the publication of the Encyclopedia of Islam will be accelerated. The Turkish side of the Agreement will support the publication of textbooks for Islamic schools in Russia.

Other areas of cooperation, including an international conference on theology and Islamic education have been identified. The Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey will assist in improving the training of teachers and staff to obtain degrees of Islamic universities in Russia.

One of the areas of joint activities - the continued construction of a new complex of Moscow Cathedral Mosque on the basis of a separate agreement signed in August 2010.

During the meeting, which was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey, Aydin Sezgin in Russia and Vice-President of the RMC on the International Cooperation Mustafa Hazrat Kyutyukchu other relevant issues were considered.

After this meeting, held early in the morning, a Russian Muslim spiritual leader flew to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of and in order to take part in the inauguration of President of Kyrgyzstan Atambayev, scheduled for Dec. 1.
