March 24,2011 Moscow will host the All-Russian Muslim Conference

"RUSSIA is our common home"

On Thursday 24 March, the first time since the October Revolution Moscow will host a massive event, which will cover the Muslim religious and community leaders across the country - the All-Russian Muslim Conference "Russia is our common home. "

This meeting is a response of the Muslim community of Russia to a rise of xenophobia and Islamophobia in our country. It convened in a situation where Muslims in Russia are increasingly concerned about the spread of views on the destructive role of Islam and Muslims in the fate of multiethnic Russia, the spread of ideas of extremism and intolerance in the Russian society.

The organizers of the Conference see as one of their major tasks is the consolidation of Muslim clergy and the public in the face of these challenges. An important objective of the event is to seek effective models of achieving inter-religious and interethnic peace and accord in Russia, as well as more active involvement of Russian Muslim community in the processes of modernization and development.

The next task of the Conference is to draw attention of the Russian public to the issue of de-politicization of religion in our country, on the basis of Russia's status as a secular, democratic and multi-confessional state. Particularly this situation seems to be relevant in the atmosphere of ever more increasing intrusion of religion into the political sphere in our country and epoch-making events in the Arab-Muslim world.

The leadership of the Russian Religious Board of Muslims, prominent representatives of the Muslim clergy, of the public, scientists and artists who have made significant contributions to the development and strengthening of the country, members of the Expert Council of the RMC are invited to participate in the Conference.

Among the Distinguished guests will be the heads and representatives of traditional religions, the leadership of relevant ministries and the Federal Assembly, representatives of the Presidential Administration and Government of the Russian Federation, Leaders and representatives of public and political associations.

Taking into account the scale of the challenges to the social stability in the country, as well as the level of the upcoming event according to the composition of participants and thematic content, we have every reason to say that it promises to be a historic event not only for Muslims of the country, but for the whole Russian society.
