"We hope that people not familiar with Islam will be able to acquaint themselves with its mercy through the Armenian translation of the Holy Qur'an," said the Presidency's director of religious publishing Yuksel Salman.

He said that the whole project was realized in four years while the translation itself took two years and a half. The Armenian text of the Qur'an was examined by the Presidency's experts as well as professors of Turkey's theological universities. According to RIA "Novosti", four thousand copies of Qur'an were printed in eastern and western dialects of Armenian language.

The Presidency has also recently published Qur'an in Kurdish language.

The Presidency of Religious Affairs is a Turkish government body established in 1924 and referred to in a specific article of the Constitution that calls Turkey secular state. The annual turnover of the organization that acts not only in Turkey but also abroad, exceeds two billion dollars.
