During his working visit to Qatar, the first deputy chairman of the Russia Muftis Council, deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation Rushan Abbyasov met with Mr Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf of Qatar. Renat Abyanov, head of the Department of Culture of theRBMRF, also took part in the meeting.

Rushan Abbyasov conveyed greetings on behalf of the chairman of the RMC Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin and thanked Mr. Al Ghanim for the invitation to the closing ceremony of the International Quran Recitation Contest held recently in Doha.

During the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov informed the Minister about various activities of the RBMRF, RMC and joint projects with the participation of fellow believers. The parties emphasised the importance of religious diplomacy in bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together and developing cooperation. The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects of organizing joint events in religious, scientific, educational, humanitarian and cultural spheres.

At the end of the visit Rushan Abbyasov presented Mr Al Ghanim with the book "100 wonderful facts about the Qur'an in Russia" and the photo album "The Mosques of Russia".
