Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin met with Sheikh Nasir al-Suwaiti, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs of the State of Qatar and Head of the Committee of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Quran Recitation Contest.

Sheikh Nasir al-Suwaiti arrived in Moscow as the guest of honour of the XXI Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition.

At the beginning of the meeting, the religious leader of Russian Muslims conveyed greetings to Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation, and thanked the Qatari guests for coming to Moscow for the Holy Qur'an recitation competition.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin spoke about the development of relations between the Muslims of Russia and Qatar and expressed confidence in further productive cooperation.

Sheikh Nasir Al-Suwaiti conveyed greetings on behalf of the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of Qatar Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim and emphasised that Qatar attaches great importance to the development of the art of memorising and preserving the text of the Holy Qur'an by heart. He further confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the State of Qatar to cooperate in this direction with the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia.

The guest spoke about the Holy Quran Recitation contest in Qatar named after Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani - one of the largest competitions of Qur'an reciters in the world. The purpose of this contest in Qatar is to bring together the winners of Quranic contests in other countriesand to find the strongest one.
