On 13 May in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque a Memorandum on understanding and cooperation was signed between the Russia Muftis Council and the Supreme Council for Islamic affairs of Bahrain. Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin signed the memorandum on behalf of the Russia Muftis Council. The Supreme Council was represented by deputy chairman, sheikh Abdurahman bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al-Khalifa.

In the beginning of the meeting the head of the Bahraini delegation, sheikh Abdurahman Al-Khalifa conveyed greetings from His Majesty the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa to mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, as well as greetings from the chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Abdullah bin Khalid Al-Khalifa.

During the meeting the religious leader of Russian Muslims spoke about new projects and events organized by different Spiritual Boards. He thanked for assistance in organizing the visit of the RMC delegation to Bahrain last March and arranging a meeting with His Majesty the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Mufti Sheikh Rabil Gaynutdin also expressed his satisfaction with development of relationships between the countries in political, cultural, economic and religious areas.

“We, Russian Muslims, support the initiatives of both countries aimed at developing the relationships, and we support the policy of our President related to strengthening ties with Islamic countries. The Russian Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia are ready to develop cooperation in religious, cultural, educational spheres together with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs”, — said mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

Sheikh Abdurahman bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Khalifa concurred and added that “cooperation between our country tends to grow”.

As mentioned above, during the meeting mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and Sheikh Abdurahman bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Khalifa signed a memorandum on understanding and cooperation between the Russia Muftis Council and the Supreme Council for Islamic affairs of Bahrain. According to the document, the parties will cooperate in the area of Islamic affairs, culture  and Islamic legacy, studies of the Qur’an and waqf property. The document also mentions that the parties will coordinate and reconcile their stances regarding modern challenges and problems.
