RMC delegation participates in conference in Amman The delegation of the Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia is participating in the International conference “Islam and modern challenges in the shadows of the Amman Message”, which is taking place under the auspices of His Majesty the King of Jordan, Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein al-Hashim in Amman.

The delegation includes Damira Khairetdinov, deputy chairman of the Russia Muftis Council for education, science and culture, principal of the Moscow Islamic Institute, and Ildar Galeyev, head of the International Department of the Russia Muftis Council.

His Majesty King Abdullah II was represented by the Supreme judge of Jordan, Abdulkarim Al-Hasawina. More than 35 delegations from 20 countries are taking part in the conference. The organizers mentioned that the first session of the conference took place in 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The opening ceremony and the plenary meeting were conducted in the Cultural Centre of the Kingdom. The event started with some verses of the Qur’an being cited.

After that Abdussalam Al-Abbadi, chairman of the organizing committe of the conference, spoke about goals and objectives of the event. He said that the conference was to deal with the questions of terrorism, fighting Islamophobia and discrimination of Muslims, as well as fighting poverty and unemployment.

“Over 15 representatives of different Jordanian and foreign universities, state insitutions and foreign diplomatic missions took part in the preparations for the event”, — said Dr. Al-Abbadi in his welcoming speech.

Sadiq al-Mahdi, chairman of the “Wasatiya” International forum also greeted the attendees. He emphasized the role of the Amman Message in establishing and spreading the true Islamic values and called Turkey and Iran, Sunnis and Shias for more active cooperation for the benefit of Islam.

A recognized Muslim scholar, sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, also delivered a speech. Based on Qur’anic verses he noted that the solutions for many problems and calamities of the Muslim ummah can be found in Muslims themselves. He also said  that a scrupulous examination of circumstances was needed while issuing Islamic fatwas, discarding the stereotypes existing in the Muslim perception of the modern world.

During the conference Damir hazrat Khairetdinov met the Chairman of the organizing committee of the conference, Dr Abdussalam Al-Abbadi, and minister of awqaf, Islamic affairs and Holy Places of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr Wael Arabiyat . Damir Khairetdinov conveyed to them the greetings from the religious leader of Russian Muslims, mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and invited them to visit Moscow in the nearest future.

The conference will be open until 29 April.
