Mufti Gaynutdin meets Iranian ambassador in Moscow The chairman of the Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran in Russia, Mehdi Sanai, in his residence in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

The mufti informed the guest about latest events that took place under the auspices of the RMC and the SBMRF. In particular, the mufti told about such great events as “Faizkhanov readings” in Saint Petersburg on 11-13 April, humanitarian campaign in Lebanon, Mawlid an-Nabiy devoted to the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Crocus City Hall on 29 January and others.

The parties discussed the issues of further cooperation and expressed their openness and readiness for strengthening relationships.

State and confessional relations in Russia were also on the agenda of the meeting. “The Russian Muslims are rightful citizens of their country who have all rights given to them by Constitution” — said the head of the RMC and the SBMRF, while commenting on trust-based relations between Muslims and the authorities at all levels.

Besides, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and Mehdi Sanai condemned the terrorist attacks that have recently happened in Saint Petersburg, London, Stockholm, Alexandria and other cities. The head of Russian Muslims said that people committing such crimes can not be acquitted. “We need to be vigilant and to oppose those trying to destroy the civil peace”, — he said. The parties declared that all possible methods must be used in order to prevent the propaganda of terrorism and extremism, especially among young people.  

The parties also discussed the development of cooperation between Russia and Iran.
