The opening ceremony for the Tatar Muslim cultural centre (mosque) in Staraya Kupavna, which is located in 50 km from Moscow. 
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia in Russia, Wahid Supriyadi, participated in the event. Deputy chairman of the government of the Moscow region, Noginsk mayor, Staraya Kupavna mayor, representative of the Orthodox Church and diplomats from the embassies of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Sudan also attended the event.

Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, chairman of the Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, a member of the Presidential Council for cooperation with religious organization, noted that the new mosque was not only the religious, but also social, educational and cultural centre for all inhabitants of the town”.

“Islam teaches Muslims to be tolerant and to respect everyone”, — said mufti Gaynutdin in his letter to the embassy of Indonesia in Moscow.
 
Mufti also prayed for the victims of the terroristic act, which happened in Saint Petersburg on 3 april, and condemned those who organized this horrendous crime. 

The Tatar Muslim cultural centre occupies an area of 400 sq.m. and can accommodate up to 400 people in the building and around 3000 people in the yard. The centre includes a library, children’s playground, small madrasa, gym and halal café. 
 
Mr Wahid Supriyadi, who has been holding the position of the Ambassador of Indonesia in Russia for one year, has visited 18 republics and regions of Russia. During his trips, especially to the regions inhabited by Russian Muslims, the ambassador visits local mosques. Besides, he once took on the role of witness during the nikah ceremony of an Indonesian couple in the Kul Sharif mosque in Kazan.
