The Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) welcomed a delegation of Russian Muslims led by Rushan hazrat Abbyasov, first deputy chairman of the RMC and the SBMRF, and Abubakar Arsamakov, president of MInBank. The delegation was received by the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr Bandar Hajjar. The meeting was also attended by the heads of IDB departments.
Rushan hazrat Abbyasov conveyed the greetings of the Russian Muslims' religious leader, mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and noted that the Russia Muftis Council and the Islamic Development Bank are connected with the ties of cooperation in different spheres (education, awqaf etc). More than 10 years have passed since the Memorandum on cooperation between the RMC and the IDB was signed.
Dr Bandar Hajjar said that he had had an opportunity to visit Russia and to meet muftis and religious leaders when he was a Hajj Minister of Saudi Arabia. He added that now, as the head of such a well-known organization, he would encourage development of bilateral relationships. “Halal industry, awqaf, education, Islamic economy are the priorities of our cooperation”, — he said.
Dr Bandar Hajjar said that Russia was an important partner for the IDB, and that they could not disregard a large Muslim community in Russia.
“Next month an important delegation made up of the representatives of the Central Bank of Russia and largest Russian banks will pay us a visit. During their visit there will be briefings and courses on Islamic finance”, — explained Mr Hajjar.
During the meeting Abubakar Arsamakov delivered a presentation about MInBank. Dr Bandar Hajjar highly appraised the activity of the Russia Muftis Council and MInBank and expressed his readiness to develop further cooperation with regard to charity, education, finance and banking.
