The construction of the first mosque operating through solar energy will be finished soon in Oman.
This unique high-tech mosque will allow to save up to 60% of energy consumption in comparison with other mosques using common energy sources.
According to Time of Oman, the engineer Badr Al-Hadabi, who devised the project, says that the new mosque will also allow to save up to 40% of water consumption.
“The project is currently at its final stage, — said Al-Hadabi. — We have accomplished 90% of the works and are now mounting panels on the mosque’s roof, facing the sun”.
“This will be the first “green” mosque in the world. I hope it will serve as a good example”.
The engineer Al-Hadabi devised the project of the “green mosque” for no charge — he says it was a gift to his country.
It should be noted that during the last years a number of initiatives on developing solar energy were suggested in a number of countries, including the countries of the Northern Africa.
