Guest of honor from Russia invited to the International Qur'an reciting contest in Qatar On 7 December, Wednesday, the final round of the International Qur'an reciting competition «The best among the best» was held in Doha, Qatar. The winners of international Qur'an reciting contests competed for 10 days. In the first year 37 participants from 21 countries took part in the contest. The first prize award amounted to 1 million Qatari riyals (USD 275,000), which so far has exceeded any other similar contests and prizes.
The chairmen of the international Qur'an reciting competitions from different countries were the guests of honour at the event. The Russia was represented by Rushan Abbyasov, the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Moscow International Qur'an reciting competition, first deputy Chairman of the Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia.

Only winners of international contests could participate in this competition. Thus, the winner of the 16th Moscow International Qur'an reciting competition Omar Nabravi from Saudi Arabia could take part in this contest in Qatar thanks to his success in Russia.

The final round took place in the National Theatre of Qatar. The winner was Khalid Al-Imati from Kuwait. The participants received memorable gifts from Gaith bin Moubarak al-Kuwari, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic affairs, and Salah bin Ghanim al-Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports.
