Russian students sent to Qatar by RMC Two Russian students have been sent by the Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia to Doha in order to participate in the international educational programme for learning Arabic. This language course is a result of a long and productive cooperation between the RMC and the SBMRF and the Qatar University. Depending on the level of the language command, the students will study relevant grammar aspects, develop the skills of speaking Arabic and get to know the culture and literature of the Arab world, which will contribute to the quality of the knowledge they gain.

Ismail Gindullin, leading expert of the International Department, who is attending this course, shared his impressions.

“The lessons are held in small groups, mostly international, which allows us to practice not only Arabic but also other foreign languages. The teachers are real experts: the lessons pass in high gear but in a very productive way. In order to make the course more comprehensive, the lectures on the Arabic language are divided according to different aspects. The lectures on the media language, where professors and invited speakers share their knowledge, help students to be at ease with media. Apart from language courses, the students can study other subjects”.

The importance of cooperation between the RMC and the SBMRF with Qatar in the educational sphere was emphasized during the meetings of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and also with the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari, which took place during the Russian delegation's visit to Qatar in March 2016. The parties agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the religious, educational and cultural fields.

It should be noted that these agreements have already been put into practice: this August 15 teachers of Qur'anic disciplines from different regions of Russia took part in a one-week Qur’anic studies course in Doha.

A number of special educational programmes in the area of Islamic studies and Arabic language are being implemented by the International Department of the RMC and the SBMRF together with universities of Egypt, Turkey, Qatar. Kuwait, Algeria, Brunei and some other countries. Some programmes are supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The RMC and the SBMRF pay great attention to the issues of interaction of Russian Muslims with their foreign fellow believers in terms of education. Years of hard work have resulted in numerous bilateral agreements with supreme educational institutions of many Muslim countries.
