Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council, Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, met Mehmet Gormez, Minister of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey at the 9th Eurasian Islamic Council.

The leader of Russian Muslims appraised highly the organization of the Eurasian Islamic Council and noted that he was also concerned about radical sects and organizations that use religious slogans for their evil purposes and pursue activities that are harmful for the state and society.

“Russia has a vast experience of fighting against extremist and terrorist groups. I am convinced that Russia and Turkey will be able to stand up to the threats from pseudo-Islamic groups in the region”, — said the head of the RMC and the SBMRF.

In his turn, Dr Gormez emphasized the importance of participation of the Russian delegation in the event and mentioned that the Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia was a member of the Presidium of the EIC. He expressed the conviction that this fact would take cooperation with spiritual boards in Russia and Central Asia to a new level.
