Jury and participants of Quran reciting contest arrive in Moscow The capital of Russia, Moscow, is welcoming the jury and participants of the 17th Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition. The opening ceremony for the Qur’an Feast, during which the final stage of the Quran Reciting Competition will take place, will be held on the 23rd September in the Moscow Cathedral Moscow.

Before the Friday prayer the visitors of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque will be able to hear verses from the Holy Qur’an recited by the contest participants from different countries.

The final stage of the 17th Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition will take place on the 25th September in the Crocus City Hall, at 12.30 pm.

The event is supported by the President of the  Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition, Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Government of Moscow. The general sponsor of the event is the Safmar Charity Fund.

Qur'an reciters from over 30 countries (Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, USA, Turkey, Croatia etc) will participate in the contest. The participants will compete in the Tilawa nomination (beuatiful recitation of the Quran at sight). Russia is represented by Oyatullo Zarifi from Moscow

The Moscow International Qur'an Reciting Competition exists for over 10 years. For the first time it was organized in Moscow in 2000. In 2003 the contest came to a regional level, in 2005 it became all-Russian, and in 2007 the contest became international.
