Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, chairman of the Russian Muftis Council and the Spiritual Board of Muslims, of Russia, met Abdurrahman Ibrahim Ar-Rassi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Russia. The meeting was also attended by Rushan hazrat Abbyasov, first deputy chairman of the RMC, Ildar Galeyev, head of the International department, and Muhammad Ash-Shamri, first secretary of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Russia.
«We fully support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and stability in the region. Russian Muslims advocate for closer cooperation between the KSA, regional states and Russia against terrorism and extremism», - emphasized Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin at the beginning of the meeting.
«The Government of the KSA considers Russia as a friendly country. We are happy that our countries maintain cooperation in different fields, including secutiry, science, education and culture. That proves that our countries have more common points rather than differences”, said the Ambassador.
He also added that Saudi Arabia follows the events organized by the Russian Muftis Council and appraises them highly.
The parties also discussed the upcoming visit of sheikh Saleh Al Sheikh, Minister of Islamic affairs, endowments, call and guidance, to Russia, in order to sign a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Russian Muftis Council and the abovementioned Ministry.
Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin noted that forming a contractual basis for cooperation would make our cooperation more efficient and open, and would contribute to development of Russian-Saudi relations.
