Today at the premises of the Russian Muftis Council Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin received Iranian delegation led by Seyid Muhammad Mustafawi, member of the Strategic Council of foreign relations, first deputy head of the International Department of the Supreme Leadership Authority.  The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Ibrahim Zarafati, director of the Department for relationships with European and Asian countries of  the Supreme Leadership Authority; Mehdi Sanai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran in Russia; Riza Maliki, director of the Iranian Cultural Centre under the Embassy of Iran in Russia; Akbari Jiddi, Hujatul Islam wa al muslimin; Shah Hoseini, Ambassador's advisor on cultural affairs, Damir hazrat Gizatullin, first deputy chairman of the RMC and SBMRF, and Ildar Galeyev, director of the RMC International department.

The parties expressed a high opinion of actively developing relationships between Russia and Iran in different spheres, which corresponds to the vector plotted by the leaders of both countries, Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani.

The leader of Russian Muslims told about new projects of subordinate spiritual institutions, events, international contacts, meetings and visits.

The representative of ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei and the Supreme Leadership authority of Iran praised the activity of the RMC and SBMRF in cultural and religious fields. He noted that Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin had authority with representatives of social, religious and state communities and personally with the Supreme Leader of Iran, ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “This fact facilitates cooperation in education, Qur’anic sciences and other areas for the benefit of people and the faith”, — he added.

The parties also discussed cooperation in order to prevent and fight against extremism and terrorism in Muslim communities.
