Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets US Ambassador On the 3rd day of Eid Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US is Moscow, John Tefft. Anthony Godfrey, Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs of the Embassy, Damir Muhetdinov, first deputy Mufti, and  Ildar Galeyev, head of the international department, also attended the meeting.
Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin thanked the guests for the visit and on behalf of all Russian Muslims expressed gratitude for the congratulation on the occasion of Ramadhan addressed to Muslims fr om John Kerry, the US Secretary. “Through our embassies and consulates we acknowledge the importance of events related to Ramadhan. Thus, we confirm our commitment to social unity, respect to differences and diversity of communities”, — said the congratulation. The US State Department wished happy Ramadhan to all Muslims, who account for almost a quarter of global population.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin noted that the positive attitude of Russian, American, and other countries' leaders towards Muslims and their statements separating the ones who wreak havoc fr om the true Islam, are forming new perception and new relationships between nations, leaving behind the civilization war of the last century. Media representatives follow the countries’ leaders and form the public opinion, influencing the relationships between nations and countries.

Ravil Gaynutdin also thanked the guests for organizing an iftar in the US Embassy and noted that this event that he attended together with the employees of the RMC and the SBMRF demonstrated not only the power of professional diplomacy, but also the power of spiritual diplomacy, which is able to build bridges of friendship and dialogue between different nations and countries.

Many topical issues were discussed during an animated meeting. The participants could not help touching upon the major issues of youth and education, which are the issues of the tomorrow's world.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin said that only family, efforts and vigilance of parents could protect children from the influence of modern media that distract the youth from real communication and are able to affect immature hearts and minds, causing tragedies. This phenomenon should not be proclaimed forbidden, because it will make it even more desirable. But the parents should be very cautious about letting children and teenagers use the Internet, wh ere violence can be presented in an attractive way and wh ere they can get an access to extremists and terrorists.

«It is horrifying when well-off, educated teenagers leave their houses and fall into the hands of recruiters. Parents must overcome this age-long yet temporary problem of denial and negation. This is the duty of everyone who brings up the youth” — this position was shared by all participants.

As for complex political issues, the parties expressed their conviction that such issues should be solved within the frames of international agreements.  These agreements, in their turn, should be aimed at respecting the interests of the countries in the conflict area.

At the end of the meeting the guests received wonderful editions of the books “Crimean mosques in historical photographs” and an invitation for the Moscow International Qur’an reciting competition, which will take place in September.
