Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets Dmitriy Peskov On June 9 Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, head of the RMC and SBMRF, met Dmitriy Peskov, Press secretary for the President of Russia. The parties discussed the questions of state and religious cooperation on a wide range of issues.
Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin highlighted the productive work of the RMC and SBMRF, and mentioned cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation within the framework of the programme for preparing experts in Islamic history and culture. It was also noted that the SBMRF was planning to establish a Joint Thesis Board specializing in Islamic theology that would include representatives of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Oriental Studies and Moscow Islamic University.

In terms of international agenda, the parties discussed international activities under the umbrella of the RMC and SBMRF. In particular, they talked about the International Muslim Forum platform and its events aimed at bringing together Islamic intellectuals and scholars based on the ideas of Qur'anic humanism, multipolar world order and coexistence of cultures and civilizations.
Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin informed Dmitriy Peskov that while visiting Arab countries the RMC and SBMRF representatives saw sincere interest to the Russian experience in establishing religious dialogue, raising Muslim elite, settling interfaith disputes and facilitating integration of Muslim immigrants.

The parties noted that nowadays, when the questions of Muslim world development have become a part of international agenda, constructive stance and productive international activity are of great importance. Opposition to the ideology of intolerance and violence is becoming increasingly important as an integral element of anti-terrorism effort.
