On Friday, May 22, 6th International Halal Congress opened its doors in Moscow, Russia. This year, it is divided into two sections: "Export and Import Prospects for Halal Manufacturers" and "Development of Eurasian Centre of Standardization and Certification 'Halal' ".

The congress was opened by the deputy chairman of Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation Rushan hazrat Abbyasov who conveyed the greeting words of the spiritual leader of Russia's Muslims mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

Speaking at the event, he stressed that although today's Halal market is not limited to foodstuffs, even the food industry cannot supply the demand for Halal products, especially in Russia's regions. According to Rushan hazrat, about 60% of Halal goods consumers are non-Muslims who prefer Halal products for their quality, safety and fairness.

He also spoke of the need to maintain relations with the Arab and Muslim world, saying that ICSC "Halal" is known not only in Russia but also far beyond its borders.

In the end of his address he wished the experts and the participants of the exhibition successful and fruitful work, reassuring them of Russia Muftis Council commitment to supporting Halal initiatives and projects.

Moderator of the congress, CEO of ICSC "Halal", head of the Eurasian Union of Standardization and Certification "Halal" Aydar hajji Gazizov reminded that the Chairman of Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin was among first of those who turned attention to Halal problematics 12 years ago, bringing this issue before Russia's President Vladimir Putin. ICSC "Halal" was established soon afterwards.

Other speakers at the congress' opening included Chairman of the Islamic Centre of Montenegro Muidin Milajmi, president of the Association "Halal Industry of Kazakhstan", co-chairman of the Eurasian Halal Union Marat Sarsenbaev, deputy chairman of the Mufti of the Republic of Belarus, CEO of BelHalal company Rustam hazrat Hasenevich, representative of the Halal committee of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Sagintay Shaltakov.

During the session devoted to the development of export and import relations within Halal sphere, participants discussed customs regulations, prospects of import and export relations between Turkey, Russia and Iran as well as particularities of Russia-exported Halal meat. Speakers of the first section included such well-known experts as the advisor of customs operations and customs control section of the customs legislation and compliance practices department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Dmitry Avdonin, president of the association of Russian and Turkish organizations RUTID Esat Sari, CEO of Khimtrans LLC Tatiana Sveshnikova, executive director of Rincon Management Konstantin Korneev.

Participants of the second session discussed the development and prospects of Eurasian Union "Halal". Reports were delivered by the president of the Association "Halal Industry of Kazakhstan", co-chairman of Eurasian Union "Halal" Marat Sarsenbaev, deputy chairman of the Mufti of the Republic of Belarus, CEO of BelHalal company Rustam hazrat Hasenevich, chairman of the Halal committee of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Nizamov and deputy chairman of the same organization Foat hazrat Muhametov, director of the Quality control and Halal certification department of ICSC "Halal" Alimdzhan Galeev, CEO of the group of companies "Ihlas", representative of the Halal committee of SAM RT in Ural region Aydin Gugaev.

In the end of the congress, the participants agreed on the need to continue developing Halal industry both in Russia and abroad.
