Al Quds Day

Today, the last Friday of Ramadan Muslims the world express their solidarity with the suffering people of Palestine. To participate in the Al Quds Day the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Russia Reza Sadzhali arrived at the residence of the RMC.

Sober Achvari, the professor at Tehran University, Director General of International Cooperation Department under the spiritual leader of Iran spoke  to the he parishioners of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

Al-Quds is the Arabic name for Jerusalem, the third after Mecca and Medina the holy city of Islam. The Al Quds Day is important not only for Palestinian people, but for the whole world. After all, Jerusalem - the holy city, a city "three heavenly religions." For Muslims, it is valuable because here the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) made Miraj, here was the first Qibla.

The World Al Quds Day is celebrated by Muslims of the world in the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. It was proclaimed by the founder and leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 in solidarity with the Palestinian people. In recent years, the Day of Al-Quds went far beyond the borders of Iran and not only unite all Muslim schools of thought, but also people of different faiths and beliefs, who are at one with solidarity in the struggle for the liberation of Palestine.

Muslims of Russia positively evaluate recent reports that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas after the first talks in Washington agreed to meet once in two weeks.

The next meeting will be held again in the Middle East 14 and 15 of September this year.

Abbas called upon Israel to wind up the building of settlements in the Palestinian territories and to lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu said that both sides will have to make concessions.

The outcome of negotiations should be the Israeli withdrawal from territories captured in 1967, and the formation of an independent Palestinian state.

During the Friday prayer at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque the Chairman of the Russian Mufties Council  Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin told about our support for the Palestinian people.

Muslims at the general Friday prayer expressed with the whole Ummah community the solidarity with the Palestinian people.
