Russia mufties CouncilJoint Statement of the participants of the round table "Islam: Tolerance, Peace and Anti-Violence"We, participants of the round table on “Islam: Tolerance, Peace and Anti-Violence” in conjunction with the terrorist
attacks in Hereby state our frame of thinking as follows: 1. Islam is a religion of rahmatan lil alamin: peace, tolerance and anti violence. 2. Any attempts to correlate Islam with terrorist attacks are inadmissible. Such statements should be regarded as a threat and challenge to international harmony and peace. The authors of such statements must be acknowledged as detractors. 3. Perpetrators, participants as well as organizers of such terrorist acts are criminals and must be brought in front of the justice according to the rule of law. 4. Dissemination the information about criminals’ nationality and religion should be avoided, as terrorists have neither national nor religious affiliation. Terrorism is basically against God and His creature. 5. Any attempt to justify violence by religious motives are against Islamic teachings and must be barred 6. The information of true teaching of Islam should be brought to the wide audience. For this purpose, complex of educational and enlightenment programmes should be deeper worked-out and wider spread, including through mass media. 7. Comprehensive Programmes for youth must be introduced through education process and as well as mass media, particularly internet. 8. To avoid such terrorist acts in the future, the root causes of terrorism should be addressed properly by the government and community. 9. This joint statement will be delivered to the Russian and other countries leaders for their information and consideration. |
