A terrorist can't be a Muslim and Muslim can't be a terrorist
Some comments about explosions in Moscow
subway that appeared in Mass Media
gave those terrorists rank of “shaheeds”. The Chairman of the Russian Mufties
Council sheikh mufti Ravil Gaynutdin has to declare that such comments when
this word is highly revered by Muslims and means a person who died in the fair
struggle with aggression, defending Islam, is assigned with killers, can be seen
as inciting young people to
such violent acts.
We repeatedly affirm: a
terrorist can’t be a Muslim, and Muslim can’t be a terrorist. Extremism and
terrorism have no ground in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet
(s.w.s). The belief that actions of
some individuals and groups can’t be attributed to religion and its teachings
gradually begins to dominate in our society. We see our goal in reaching such a
situation when extremists who
disguised and cover themselves with religion will not only become few, but
disappear. And using religious terms in the Mass Media shouldn’t be an
irresponsible stamp or cliché that can be further provocation and incitement. The Russian Mufties Council
have repeatedly advocated the initiative of the official ban on reporting on
ethnic and religious identity of violators of the law. We believe that we should
implement this as a law to preserve the unity of Russian society, our Russia and
prevent ethnic and
religious strife.
