The first visit of the delegation of Muslim leaders of Russia to Palestine

For the first time in the history of relations between Russia and the Palestinian Authority the delegation of Russia Mufties Council will pay official visit to Palestine . The visit upon the invitation of the head of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas passes on November days between 6 – 9.

The delegation is headed by the leader of the public section of Russia Mufties Council the president of Islamic Culture Centre of Russia Abdul-Wahed Niyazov. Among the members of the delegation are co-chairman of Russia Mufties Council, chairman of Religious board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan Mufti Gusman hazrat Iskhakov, member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, deputy chairman of the Committee of the State Duma for the matters of non-governmental associations and religious organizations Belan Khamchiev, Chairman of the Religious board of Muslims of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, leader of Muslims of South Ossetia Mufti Ali haji Evteev, deputy chairman of Russia Mufties Council for international relations, head of International Relations Department of Russia Mufties Council Imam-khatyb Rushan hazrat Abbyasov and other official Muslim figures representing different regions of Russia .

The purpose of the present visit is to acquaint the Muslims of Russia with the life of the Muslims of Jerusalem and Palestine and to establish friendship relations with co-believers. Russia Mufties Council is confident that development of bilateral relations between the Muslim communities will contribute to strengthening relations between our countries.

The visit passes in a complicated time of long-lasting political struggle in the region. The delegation of Russian Muslims has an objective to make a positive contribution to the settlement of Arabian- Israeli conflict.

During the visit the members of the delegation will meet with the Head of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, official figures of the Authority, representatives of public organizations and movements, religious Islamic leaders and others. The culmination of the visit is to become participation in a Friday prayer in the mosque Al-Aksa – the third relic of Islam, in which in the name of Russian Muslims chairman of Religious board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan mufti Gusman hazrat Iskhakov and mufti of Ossetia Ali Evteev will make speeches.
